I know we’re all counting down the days, minutes and seconds until our Dixons are back, but let’s just take a minute for our October charity! It’s a real good one for all us horror and Halloween fans!

Scares That Care! is a nonprofit organization that provides money, toys and other items to help sick children. Led by horror film director and retired police officer Joe Ripple, this charity utilizes the fan base of the horror, haunt and Halloween genres to raise funds and awareness for those in need. Scares That Care! raises money by holding benefits where they show films, have silent auctions and a famous face will make an appearance too!

There are two other programs consisting of “Scares For Pairs,” where they help women fighting breast cancer; and they also have partnered with horror icon Kane Hodder, and created the “I Helped Kane” program, where they provide assistance to those children who have suffered serious burn injuries.
